Ministries"Ministry" is from the Greek word diakoneo, meaning "to serve" or douleuo, meaning "to serve as a slave." In the New Testament, ministry is seen as service to God and to other people in His name. Jesus provided the pattern for Christian ministry— He came, not to receive service, but to give it
(See Matthew 20:28; Mark 10:45; John 13:1-17).
Christians should minister by meeting people's needs with love and humility on Christ's behalf. (See Matthew 20:26; Mark 10:43; John 2:5,9; Acts 6:3; Romans 1:1; Galatians 1:10; Colossians 4:12) Christians are to minister to others out of their devotion to Christ and their love for others, whether the other people are believers or unbelievers. Ministry to others should be impartial and unconditional, always seeking to help others as Jesus would. At PUMC that is our goal. PUMC Choir /Praise Band
The Pelham United Methodist Choir is lead by worship leader and pianist Reeda Shelton. The choir encompasses people of all ages and provides music for Sunday morning worship services and special events. The choir sings traditional gospel songs as well as contemporary praise and worship songs accompanied by our members who play instruments. New members are always welcome and we don't require that you know how to read music. Come and join us! Practice is Wednesday night 7:00 P.M. in the Sanctuary. We have a need for those who play musical instruments so if you play something let us know!
PUMC Recreation Ministry
The Pelham United Methodist congregation is proud to have members who like to stay active. We also believe that a healthy spirit and a healthy body are the grand design of our Heavenly Father. Because we like to combine fellowship and worship, PUMC offers a church league softball team and a golf team. These teams compete in friendly intermural sporting events in the surrounding area. The softball team forms in the Spring so please contact us at 931-467-3584 or email Pastor De at pastorde@pelhamumc.org if you'd like to play. It is our goal to build a family life center by 2014 to better serve the members of PUMC.
